In case you haven’t been following, Tiffany sued to force eBay to police counterfeit Tiffany listings. They lost the case. Now Tiffany is appealing the decision.
You may have noticed that we release updates to Listomax frequently. Is this a symptom of buggy software that needs fixing all the time? NO! It’s a development philosophy known as agile development. By making small, frequent releases:
- users get requested features quicker
- we don’t make huge changes that may or may not match users’ requirements
- small changes allow the code to remain in a working state; huge changes create a non-working system. Other unrelated features that are requested during this period must be added to both the working code and the development branch, a manoeuvre prone to error.
The major change in this release is internal - Listomax now uses SQLite - this will allow more flexibility in the future, and make 3rd-party add-ons easier to implement.
A heads-up for the next release: it will speed up Item Specifics and keep better track of your selections.
We’ve just released Listomax 1.24 with International Site Visibility. This allows someone listing on the US eBay site to also list on eBay UK for 10-40¢ depending on the starting price - quite a bargain, in my opinion.
We’ve just released Listomax 1.20, and the biggest feature is Custom Item Specifics. Many of our users have been editing the listings on eBay in order to add Item Specifics. No more!
This eBay blog talks about how Custom Item Specifics are being rolled out to all categories. It has been speculated that CIS are a significant factor in eBay’s Bext Match algorithm.
We’ve just released Listomax 1.17. Not much in this release; the most significant change is that users with large numbers of items will see faster startup.
I find that the most rewarding experiences and the most success as a seller comes from realizing that eBay is really a wonderful international community of people. For me, the personal touch, taking the time to communicate with my buyers is very important. I always write and acknowledge a sale. I notify my buyers when I have shipped to them and what their tracking numbers are. I sell unique items with a lot of history. I like to share as much of my knowledge of the item as I can. I often wind up in personal communication with my buyers, who frequently become repeat customers. EBay is a remarkable opportunity to make contact with people from all over the world. I find that frequently, through our shared interests, we find how much we have in common, even though we are often from distant places and different cultures. I like to take a bit of extra time in packing my items like gifts, so that the buyer has a really positive experience when they receive their treasure. I think that eBay is a great opportunity to realize that commerce can be something positive for everyone.
We’ve been busy working on Listomax, and version 1.16 has just been released. The two significant changes in it are:
- Support fonts and colors in policies
- Simplify the listing process
You may have overlooked some of the changes in earlier releases, too. Notable features include:
- Fonts and colors in description
- Select a template each time you list
Welcome to our blog about eBay and Listomax. Listomax is in active development, and we listen to customers and attempt to add features that are a combination of most requested and easiest to implement. Here, we’ll cover new and upcoming features.
